Chris MacDow named First Mate 2011

Congrats to Chris MacDow of Provincetown who was named First Mate 2011 during MLW XV. Steve Benson – Northeast Leatherboy 2011, David Durman – Mr. Boston Leather 2011, Rick Valentino – Northeast LeatherSIR 2011 and Tim White – Mr. Connecticut Leather 2011 were the judges for the contest and Addam Moreno – First Mate 2009 was contest emcee. First Runner-up is John Truzz of Rehoboth Beach DE and Second Runner-up is Boy Boggy of South Yarmouth MA – congratulations to you also and thanks to all who participated.

Thanks to all who came out for MLW XV. Over 650 people attended and $4,128 was raised for the ASGCC. Special thanks to Danny & Gerald from SNIP Salon for donating all of their Buzzcut Barber tips, Puppy for the Scent Contest proceeds & Spike and Aaron for their hard work selling raffle tickets. Thanks also to Willie Baracchi for raising an additional $800 for ASGCC through his “Dick Dock Collection 2011″ art sales.

2011 Northeast Community Bootblack

Congrats to Jay Falcon of Boston, MA (and frequent MLW partcicipant) on his win of the 2011 Northeast Community Bootblack title. The contest was held in April in Providence RI. Watch for him as he competes in the International Community Bootblack contest in July during Dore Alley in San Francisco.

Northeast LeatherSIR and Leatherboy 2011

Congrats to Rick Valentino and Stephen Benson, both of Provincetown, on their recent win of Northeast LeatherSIR and Northeast Leatherboy 2011 in Providence RI on April 9. Rick also was 1st Runner-up of Maryland LeatherSIR 2004 and Mr. Hillside Leather 2005. Watch for them as they compete in International LeatherSIR/boy contest in July during Dore Alley in San Francisco AND as they judge the First Mate Contest this fall.

Just got word that Mates Leather Weekend hs been nominated to receive “Large Event of the Year” and “New England Regional” awards. Thank you to whoever nominated the event and thanks to ALL who have ever helped in any way to make the weekend a success – I could not do it without you! It’s a great thrill to be on the 15th run and more so to have raised $33,000 for the ASGCC.

Get out of the Cold and into the HEAT and join us here on the tip of the cape for some comraderie and debauchery. No cover charges at any bar event and discounted accommodations available.

And the winner of First Mate 2010 is…Jeff aka “Spike” from Boston, MA. Look for him as he hosts the First Mate 2011 contest next October. The first runner-up is Alex Gorriaran from Providence, RI and the second runner-up is Christopher MacDow from Provincetown. Mates Leather Weekend XIV was a huge success with a great turnout for the new Thursday night “Bootcamp” party and attendence at 650 people overall. $3,880.00 was raised for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod – a great sum for a very worthy organization. Thank you to all who attended and helped with the weekend – you are an amazing group of people who are admired and welcomed by me and all the participating guest houses and venues in town. The weeekend would be nothing without all of you and I sincerely THANK YOU!…Rick

LOCAL NEWS: David Durman takes Mr. Boston Leather title

On 09/11/10, David Durman took home the title Mr. Boston Leather 2011. David is the President of the Bay State Marauders in the Boston area which holds it’s club nights at The Ramrod in Boston. David will be attending Mates Leather Weekend – be sure to give him your congrats when you see him! Congratulations, David!

Mates Leather Weekend 2010 Judges Announced

The judging panel has been assembled for 2010′s First Mate Contest and they are:

Mark Badway, Mr. FLAG 2010, Bob Firth-Tessier, First Mate 2007, Mr Priape Leather 2008, M. Cuir Montréal 2008, IML First Runner Up 2008, and Brent Heinze, Mr. Colorado Leather 2010-2011.

The contest will be emcee’d by Addam Moreno, First Mate 2009. Good luck to all of you!
